Hi, I recently replaced the high rail wheel set on an Atlas hopper with some scale wheels. Now I get a short when I put them on the rails. Any ideas? Thanks

Did you check to make sure that all the insulated wheels (the ones with the plastic bushings on the axles) were installed facing the same way, so they are all on the same side of the trucks?
Jim
ooops, no I did not
Most the atlas has plastic bushing on truck so the wheels will not be a problem, except if the truck is using metal bushing, then as Jim said you have to keep the insulation facing the same direction.

The other possibility is that more than one of the wheels is making contact with the truck sideframe, probably near the rim. Usually the insulated axle bushing holds the wheel away from the sideframe, but if it is pressed in too deeply sometimes contact is possible.
I would check all wheels to make sure that none can contact the sideframe. If they can, small fiber or plastic washers can be placed on the end of the axle as needed.
Also check to make sure that those plastic truck sideframe bushings Andre mentioned are all in place and not pressed in too deeply. Again, small washers will keep the wheel away from the sideframe.

Correct!
The washer that I use are kadee #208.
