So I replaced the 1st level of my Christmas layout so that I could add a trolley. It’s the same size only I left all the other levels as is and the only difference besides one oval track being a litter larger is that the first level is ½” lower than the rest. I replaced 2” foam with 1 ½” foam.
The confusing part is that circle should have been ½ lower, but instead it’s a 1 ½” higher for some reason. Anyway at this point I can easily cut the viaduct support columns down to lower it, but I’m wondering if it might actually be beneficial to leave it because the small incline might slow down the train on the curve. I just don't know how much on a small curve like this.
What do you think? I guess it’s a matter of practicality or aesthetics because it looks a little weird to me at the moment although I’m not sure if anybody will notice. I'm just curious as to what others think.
I took a photo but I’m not sure you can see how high it is. Note, the surface is not done yet and the houses are just temporally setting on the foam so I can get an idea of how to place the bridges.
