Scott is an individual with a lot of responsibility on his hands. To insure maximum quality, he spends a good deal of time at the Pacific Rim. Talk about being spread thin. But this does not prevent him from being one of the very best in our industry in answering inquiries directed to him. Whether it be a weeknight or weekend, or any other time, I get an almost immediate response from him. Never once has he failed to give me a prompt answer to a question. He sets an excellent example for others to follow.

Last weekend I sent him an e-mail with a special request. Within an hour he got back to me (he was in China) and said he would find a way to make my request happen. Scott sure is one of our hobby's best assets.

Brian,

I too have had Scott go well out of his way to help make something I wanted a reality.

The most recent example, is the car names for the B&O Cincinnatian, GGD will be doing two five car sets, I wanted a mixture of the two sets in terms of car names -- based around those names having personal meaning to us -- the neighborhood where we were married, where the kids go to school, where our first house was, etc., Scott is going to make that happen, so we'll have a wonderful train with the names of those places we love, even if the B&O didn't see fit to run them that way originally.

That sealed the deal for me, won't get much better than that in my book!

I just recently had my first experience with Scott and I am impressed!

When he announced the second run of the El Capitan I was trying to decide if I wanted to jump in and had more than a few questions.  As has been said previously he answered my e mail within the hour from China and with more than a few back and forth patiently answered all my questions about the set and explained his order process. Then not knowing me from Aunt Tillie proceeded to refuse a deposit on a 3K order saying my promise to buy is enough.

This is the kind of person I want to deal with...

This is the Golden Age of 3-rail railroading.  I say that because we are blessed to have the three big S's alive and well.  I am referring to Scott Mann. Steve Nelson (aka Mr Muffin) and Steve the owner of Ross Custom Switches.

If every business in this country was run as well and offered the great customer service as  these guys, the world would a better place.

Of the three I can not pick a favorite.  I have never heard of anybody having any problems with any of this trio.

Thanks guys and keep up the GREAT work.

Several years ago when Scotts dad was still alive, I had an issue with the Burlington Zephyr Mark Twain streamlined train set.  The engine had arrived bent and the rear car wouldn't run.  So I had to send it back for repairs.  As it turned out, the Engine wasn't repairable nor were there any other Mark Twain sets as only five were made.

They settled the dilemma by replacing my set with their corporate/personal copy off of their home layout!  Not only did I get a notable set, but it also had a different headlight than the ones issued with the Mark Twain set.

Scott also had to make corrections to a few other models that I've purchased over the years without any hassle of any kind.  He is open to constructive criticism and suggestions and has implemented several.

Scott learned all about customer service from his Dad and he is now following in his Fathers foot steps providing the best customer service possible.

+1

The only thing I could add is that you can trust Scott to make the most accurate models he can.  This leads to customer not having any worries about pre-ordering engines or cars.

The ONLY reason I got involved with three rail over 12 years ago was due to the offerings of 3rd Rail.  They offered, and still do, excellent value for the money.

I've largely moved on from three rail, but Scott gets my HO business too, with one each Great Northern and  Northern Pacific Z-6 and two Northern Pacific Z-8 challengers (with sound) supplying my primary freight power on the Spokane Southern.  Half the cost of a Division Point, with sound.  Granted, the detail isn't as exquisite as the brass that is double the cost, but I operate my locomotives, I don't leave them sitting on the shelf, or pull them out to photograph them, and them put them away.

Excellent customer service, no down payment required for a pre-order, all great stuff.  Scott listens to his customer base and provides it as long as he can make his nut.  That is smart business.

With all the great stuff Scott has brought to market over the last 15 years, O scalers with two and three rails never had it this good.

All my opinion.

Jerry Zeman
