PTC,

As you may already know, Mickey's is a St. Paul landmark, one of only a few surviving diners left in the Twin Cities. Department 56 was headquartered in Eden Prairie, a growing suburb fifteen miles west of Minneapolis, about ten miles east from were I live. Many of their offerings had been based on local iconic buildings, and were very popular with Minnesotans. I suspect a large portion of the Mickey's Diner's never left the state. This may explain their rarity. These miniature buildings are charming, and I'm surprised that I own none. After seeing your fantastic collection and outstanding display, I regret not succumbing.

Don, San Francisco is one of my favorite cities, just beautiful. My brother lives there, now retired from ILM, it's been a long time since I have visited. I don't remember seeing any of these cars, or anything like them for that matter from when I was there last. They are great fun and I would expect nothing less of San Francisco. I know a lot has changed, one of my favorite bars was the Compass Rose, and I understand that is gone.

We haven't been back and don't feel any need to. It's been almost two and half years. Both of us feel like we were always here, at least in our minds. I think it's good to change things around sometimes. For us it was the right thing to do. We have some interesting bars in this town. Here are some of my favs. The last one is the best and has the best sunsets on the island. "The Sea House"Don

Don,

My wife's favorite place.  We'll be staying at Napili Kai in August - nicest place in Maui in our opinion.  Great bay and away from the tourist hustle of Kaanapali.

Where is the place in the first pic?

I assume you live in West Maui?

Don
