I ordered a lionel diner kit and I would like some ideals for how to set it up on my layout. I have seen many on this site but the search does not bring up many, mostly diner cars. Thanks for your help.

This one would be great.
This is a shot of my completed Big L Diner kit on the old layout. The signage was made right after Lionel announced their move to China.

Mill City:
This is a highly sort after diner by Department 56 collectors. It was issued as part of their Snow Village. In the past. it demanded a very high price.

PTC,
As you may already know, Mickey's is a St. Paul landmark, one of only a few surviving diners left in the Twin Cities. Department 56 was headquartered in Eden Prairie, a growing suburb fifteen miles west of Minneapolis, about ten miles east from were I live. Many of their offerings had been based on local iconic buildings, and were very popular with Minnesotans. I suspect a large portion of the Mickey's Diner's never left the state. This may explain their rarity. These miniature buildings are charming, and I'm surprised that I own none. After seeing your fantastic collection and outstanding display, I regret not succumbing.
This is my favorite diner in the world. "Fog City Diner" in San Francisco. Next to the streetcar tracks where PCC cars still are king. Don

Don,
I don't blame you, that one is a gem. After carful study of the second pic, I see no need for menus.

Roadside diner is located in Wall, at rts 33 and 34.
Mill City, don't know if you knew this but San Francisco had and has a huge fleet of PCC cars. They run them along the bay. All are painted differently of all the cities that ran these type of cars in the U.S. They even have a open air car they run in the summer. Don

Don, San Francisco is one of my favorite cities, just beautiful. My brother lives there, now retired from ILM, it's been a long time since I have visited. I don't remember seeing any of these cars, or anything like them for that matter from when I was there last. They are great fun and I would expect nothing less of San Francisco. I know a lot has changed, one of my favorite bars was the Compass Rose, and I understand that is gone.

Next time try the Redwood Room at the Clift Hotel. You'll love it. The cars were mostly from SF and stored for years. They were all rebuilt and repainted and run down the Embarcadero with some old cars from South America I think. Don

I know Maui is beautiful, been there too, but don't you miss this stuff? Oh, your right, that's a bar in the first order.
We haven't been back and don't feel any need to. It's been almost two and half years. Both of us feel like we were always here, at least in our minds. I think it's good to change things around sometimes. For us it was the right thing to do. We have some interesting bars in this town. Here are some of my favs. The last one is the best and has the best sunsets on the island. "The Sea House"Don

Well...my absent post had to report to the Principal's office. Perhaps because diners had morphed into cocktail emporiums.
San Francisco also runs two trollies from Milan,Italy, saves a 7000 mile trip.

I did know that Mickey's was located in St. Paul. This is on I did not obtain, as I was not into the Snow Village collection. I wish that in hindsight I had bought it.
In their current product line, the American Diner is super.

Don,
My wife's favorite place. We'll be staying at Napili Kai in August - nicest place in Maui in our opinion. Great bay and away from the tourist hustle of Kaanapali.
Where is the place in the first pic?
I assume you live in West Maui?

Here's another diner/telephone ala an on-line auction (not mine). I have this diner and it is great looking. Remove the phone cords and you'll never know it's a phone.
