I changed out my engine and when it was running on the track I got a thump, thump, thump. So I knew right away a tire came off. No bashing intended. It is a MTH proto 2 engine. I had replaced one on it a while back and seemed like I pretty much had to take it apart to get to the truck side screws. I would like to know is there a way to replace the tire without taking everything apart. I did buy a dentist tool but not sure how to get it to make the tire go around the wheel. Any help is appreciated....................Thanks Paul

This must have been an older MTh engine as the later ones they changed the truck design with the sideframe screws easily accessible from the bottom. To get the tire on start by putting the top half of the tire over the wheel Hold it with your thumb. Insert the dental tool underone side and just run it around the wheel The tire will follow. If you are throwing a lot of tires you should check your track for wide joints or spaces. This will destroy your tires Also do not pull your engine by hand as this stretches the tires.
Thanks for the information. One more question. Which dental tool end works the best for this. ..................Paul

I can show you how to replace it with silicone rubber sealant and forget traction tires. If you are interested, my email is in my profile.

Along the same lines as Dennis, years ago, someone posted that GE Silicone II was pretty good at that.
