Smoke FLuid for Legacy engines | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

So I got a little board tonight and decided to actually read a manual to one of my legacy engines. I noticed something interesting, it specifically mentioned not to use smoke fluid from a starter set. Is there really a big difference?

There must be a reason so I would follow the warning. Also it’s best to read the manual of any new engine especially legacy before operating it. Just may save you a lot of anguish.

I'm not sure what the difference is between "ready to run" smoke fluid and everything else.

As far as smoke fluids, I use Lionel Premium, MTH and Mega Steam and do not see any real difference in terms of smoke quantity or smoke unit issues.

My suggestion is to use Lionel Premium until your warranty period ends.
