I recently purchased a used C&O Allegheny (20-3115). The engine runs well but the sound cuts out periodically at moderate speeds. The sound works fine at slow speeds (< 25 scale MPH). If I run the engine at 40 MPH, the sound will suddenly cut out. No whistle, no chuff. When I slow the engine down to 25 MPH, the sound comes back on. Any help you can provide with this problem would be welcome.
I have some half a dozen other PS2 engines that have never exhibited this problem.
