I'm looking for a lamp holder for a tender (or two) similar to the one pictured here for a kit-bashing project. Anyone know where I can find one or two at a reasonable price?

John, Precision Scale makes exactly what you want in brass. If your kit-bashing things you need to get their catalog. They make thousands of "O" scale detail parts. Don
I have no idea how you find a specific part on that site, it appears there is no search! I looked around, but I didn't see anything that resembles what I'm talking about. Apparently, they want you to buy a catalog so you can then buy parts.
John, That is exactly what they want you to do.

They most likely do. It's a great catalog. They make so many thousands of parts it would be hard to list them all.
Here you go. I think this is the part you need. Don
Yep. You gotta buy their catalogs. Once you get past THAT, they're awfully useful to have. Except for prices, the catalogs never really become obsolete.
Thanks for that Don, I ordered a couple of them. Hopefully, I don't need a lens and the like as well, we'll see when they come in.
No problem John, I have a few of these. They just come as a brass casting. You will need to drill a hole for the wire out the back, make a lens, and paint. I made lenses out of very thin clear plastic. The kind that's in photo albums. Also I painted the inside of the lamp, silver. This is a shot of the Head/tender lamp.Don
I save the heavy plastic from those impossible to open packages for this very reason. Drilling holes isn't a problem, I'm an expert at making holes in things!
Good idea painting it silver inside. I'll be using an LED to light it, I rarely use incandescent bulbs anymore.
I'm thinking of bringing the wires in the bottom, I'll have to see if that works out.
I used one of those, once, to put a backup light on a junk tender that I lettered for PRR, to put behind my #1615. I sculpted the lens out of a piece of the clear plastic cap from one of my wife's nail-polish bottles.
I'm sure I can come up with a lens. The light was the stumbling block, but not anymore.

Well, I ordered what was on that page, but what I got is some plastic brackets! Obviously, the picture is NOT of the product! Reading closer on that page, the picture doesn't match the description, that's what I get for hurrying.
I still have to find what I actually need.
John, If you are looking for tender back-up light housings, I have several with visor that are used on the 0-8-0 tenders. (Lionel's).
Chuck
Chuck, that's exactly what I'm looking for. Clearly, I was too hasty in ordering from the previous link, because if I read the fine print, I wasn't ordering what I wanted!
BTW, your check is on the way, and I have a question. What are the white strips for you sent with the K-Line roller? I assume they're supposed to be some sort of insulator, just wasn't sure how they'd be used.
I'll send you a couple of headlight housings and a diagram of how to assemble the pick-up assm tomorrow.
Chuck
I just did a double check the tender lights don't have the visor. My mistake. You could make the visor out of plastic or brass easy enough and glue on. Are you still interested?
Chuck,
I think I have the pickup figured. I'll have to add a little extension to the trucks in question to use it, and I'll use some heavy stiff plastic, so I'll just mount it with the tiny screws and run a wire inside. I was trying to figure how to mount it to a die-cast truck frame, that's where the confusion comes in.
I don't need the visor, I just wanted some small lights like the tender lights for a kit-bashing project.
Just out of curiosity, what do these cost?
You can order MTH PN GA-1240009 backup light housing.
It is used on RK 0-8-0 switchers.
I can send you a picture if you like.
Rod
gunrunner, I think the part you're looking for from PSC is 'PSH-40206' Headlight, standard, $4.50 ea. Give them a call. The price may have gone up but the part number comes right out of their catalog and should still be good.
I guess I'll wait and see what the ones that Chuck has look like.

If you have a picture handy of this, could you post it here? If I don't like the look of what Chuck has, that would be an alternative.
