Steve Nelson (Mr Muffins Trains) is getting a special run of Erie-Lackawanna RS-3's done, in the early black and yellow scheme. Since these engines are near and dear to me heart, I asked Steve if he would sell me some for resale, and we've agreed to do a bit of special run trading between us. Steve is a great person to work with; couldnt be nicer.
As some of you know, I worked for the EL a million years ago, and I remember the RS-3's, GP-7's and SW's in this scheme. It was replaced by the gray/maroon scheme EL around 1965, altho there was no high priority in painting. Black and yellow units were around till the late 60's. one of the SW-9's (i think 452), was actually still in its original LACKAWANNA paint scheme up till it was repainted gray/maroon in the late 60's.
