Found an interesting piece ..a Sperry car ..scratch built ... Idler truck runs a footage counter !
Runs ..but needs a bit more love before measuring the layout .
Looks to be circa 1940's . Wood roof & floor ...stamped steel ends & ends .
Prototype made 1927...for the C & NW ..sold to Sperry in 1937.
Cheers Carey

Good grief, man!  Are you working some archeological dig somewhere?  Where DO you find these gems of yore?

You really get a feel for what creative, minimalist, skills-rich hobbyists were all about 75 years ago or so when you see something like this.  Waiting for, groveling for, pleading for some manufacturer somewhere to make a kit, or an importer to commission a run of handcrafted models of this after depositing their first-born and deed to the house therefor...was just not in the cards 'back then'.

Gather your scrap materials, hand tools, ingenuity, patience, ...and favorite libation!..., and sally forth to the work bench, kitchen table,  ...wherever..., to create another incredible archeological find for Carey in 2022!

Humbling, isn't it?

Try telling me they weren't having a really different type of "FUN" in the hobby back then!
