We all know the story, a few of us but sadly not enough of us wanted to order a Lionel operating "Spy Vs. Spy" boxcar. It was disappointing to hear of the cancellation due to lack of interest and potential cost. But, what to do, as for me, I decided to mix a few ingredients of what was available, add a bit of my imagination and create my own tribute to this great "Mad" cartoon series. I plan on doing at least three pieces of rolling stock; the following photos reflect my first attempt, enjoy.

Das Boot, Where did you find the black "Spy" figure? I would like to

start the same project. I have taken Lego figures and adapted them to

the bobbing cars with a little Dremeling, super glue and lots of PSI.

On Ebay, the two spy figures (2 3/4" tall) and a little comic book come from "Running Press." The items came out in 2010; secondary market prices vary from cheap to quite expensive, be patient and you will get a decent deal. The figures are lightweight and easy to cut with a Dremel tool (Take off the legs and create a compatible hole for the bobbing device to attach). Also, due to the long nose, you will have to enlarge the roof opening and and even create a small notch.

I will be starting a second car for the "white spy" next week, will be experimenting with Spy "NASCAR" decals, have fun.
