Hi....

Well, now that I'm moved into our new rowhouse, the wife graciously granted a good-sized bedroom for building what will be the third and best O Gauge layout I've had. #1 was a 4 X 8 O31 layout I had in my teens in a spare room in an apartment my parents rented in Allentown PA in the 1970's (I had the two rooms on the third floor to myself). That layout was torn down when I turned 20 and my mother and I had to move out of that place after my father's death.

Layout #2 was built with my wife's permission in our living room with K-Line 042 and 031 Super K track in our one-bedroom apartment at in upper Northeast Philadelphia Roosevelt Blvd and Grant Avenue around 2002 and was up until last month when we closed on our new home and moved. The man who helped us move had a truck too small to accommodate in even in sections, so the track and trains were salvaged and the rest of the layout trashed.

Layout #3 will be built in the middle upstairs bedroom of our new home on Creston Street in lower Northeast Philadelphia. I just hauled the table tops (two sections) and lumber home today in a U-Haul. I bought the table tops and lumber off eBay for $2 from another collector who had an 0-27 layout on one part of the table tops; the imprint of the track and switches can be seen in one half on the grass mat. My plan is to build a temporary layout on the 5 X 5 section (which is stable on folding legs) until I build legs and benchwork to support the other 5 X 5 section, which will go beside it. Then, my wife **wants** (she's so sweet!) to buy me new FastTrack & switches to build an 054 layout on the outer loop and 036 on the inner loop. I have a trackplan in mind, and plan to build some very nice urban scenery for the layout and build shelves attached to the walls (I can do this since this is the first house I've owned in my life) to hold the trains. I'm primarily an operator of both Post War and modern stuff, and it will get operated. Wish me luck! I hope to have pics of my temporary setup up later tonight.

First view of the work in progress. Half the table came with fold out legs so I built two temporary loops on the 5 X 5 section now up. When the benchwork is done and I attach the other 5 X 5 section to the now existing one, the planning will really begin...picture below is the first run of my Congressional Ltd (minus the observation car, which is still in the basement in one of my boxes yet to be unpacked...)
