Fast paced compilation of U.K steam running at speed. I could do without the techno mix yet I did enjoy it, so I thought I would share this find. The in cab shot at 2:56 looks as they were sitting in the nose cone of a steam powered missile. Brakes, what brakes?..applying them at that speed would seem naive.

When I see films like that with all that linkage spinning, it amazes me too..

Often wondered which American RR ran the fastest steamers on a normal scheduled route? I once read it was the MR but I'm not sure..

Philadelphia & Reading Boardwalk Flyers between Camden and Atlantic City were the fastest regularly scheduled trains in the world in the 1890's. Camelback 4-4-2 No. 1027 ran so fast that the Pennsy built Camelback E-1 4-4-2's with European three-axle tenders for the competing route to the shore. These locomotives led to the E-6 Atlantics.
