Subway Locosound vs PS2 | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

Hi all -

New to the scene, can anyone give me a brief idea of the difference between these two types. Are their differences with the soundsets, controls or both?

Locosound is conventional control with much-less-than-terrific sounds. PS2 or PS3 are DCS command control engines with very nice sound effects and much, much more.

The difference is literally night and day (and some money).

I have both PCC types. and the proto 2 is really cool. get the proto 2! I got one cheaper at 165. some go for 212 depends. or more!

Proto 2 or 3. Loco sound sucks

Only MTH Proto 2 and 1 requires a battery while

Loco Sound and proto 3 don't need one
