Very nice. I also like the cookout scene.

Great video! Keep it up! Are you using o72 track for that big DD? I want one sooo bad however my tunnels are so narrow that it would never go thru. As for the smoke, I think it looked great. I only run diesels and I like to let them smoke also.

Thanks for posting this nice look at your layout. I love the locomotives, I can see a Legacy GP-35 in my future!

Nice video, but you need maintenance on those diesels!  Anything that puts out that much smoke needs to visit the backshop for an overhaul!

RickO & John. No they aren't going back to the workshop yet. The DD-35A is recently out of my workshop as I needed to rebuild one of the smoke units that had ben troublesome since new. (New motor, fresh wadding and fabrication of foam gaskets for the bodyshell to smoke-unit interfaces.)  I'm happy with the smoke output now, but I'm still trying to work out how to get sparks and flames to come out of the stacks.  (Ever since I saw the Russian TE-10 flame shows.) 

I must admit, if I could get flames out the stack on demand and not by accident, it would be a fun thing for visitors!  Just think of the reactions when you start up the locomotive and flames shoot out the stack!

OH dear!  Dictionary police coming!  The dreaded "L-U" word!

Only UP had DD35A's.   But the Central unit looks nice.

Why are those clear tubes, surrounding the trees?

As my layout is only temporary, I haven't taken most of my trees out of their packages yet.  

Oh  okay, I wasn't sure if they were some type of trophy, or measures taken -  to protect against pine beetle infestation.

Nice engines and great smokers. Try to go with bigger radius curves when you get ready to re-build.

 

Do you have  space and design in mind? if not you should start a layout design contest here on the forum. At the very least you'll get plenty of input.

Hi Steve, I'll be using O-60 and O-72 on the permanent layout. I've already got a big box of track ready for when I start the rebuilding. I had planned to start this last winter, but health issues have delayed that project for a while. 

Looks great, my 4,000 miles away dear friend!  I have to limit myself to smaller stuff, but the DD35-A sure looks impressive.

 

It soon will be time to get started on that permanent layout!  Right?

Great video!  The double smoking DD-35A is an awesome looking brute, and I like the size of your "deciduous" trees (if that's correct) next to the trailers or caravans.  Where did you find those?  I hope my permanently temporary layout comes out looking half as good

Robert (MakingTheGrade), my trees are all by 'Heki'. They make a very nice selection of trees in all sizes. Some of the largest ones can be quite expensive, but they can be mixed in with more affordable trees to good effect. ScenicExpress have a good selection at good prices in the U.S. 

Wow!!  That is a lot of smoke!  I'd  be thrown out of the house for that  The other day I wanted to see if my repairs to my Vision CC2 had restored smoke operation and I ran it with smoke for just thirty or forty feet - only enough to see it begin to heat up and puff.  then I turned the smoke off.  But I got yelled at just for that!

Nicole, thank you for sharing those sources!  I'll check out ScenicExpress.  I've just begun shopping some scenery, and those large trees seem harder to find.  I think adding a few in that size will give more dimension to my layout.  It worked very nicely on yours
