I understand Sunset 3rd Rail B&O EM-1 models came in "late" and "early" versions. What are the differences between these two?

Why not eMail Scott Mann directly?

Maybe someone else here may be interested, and maybe Scott doesn't know. I'm sure he doesn't know everything about ALL the items he imports.

Why bother Scott with questions regarding a decade old model that he'd have to check specs on since it's not fresh in his mind, either? He's busy enough with new product, no reason to hit him looking for details on something ten years old when they're out and in circulation. And, as mentioned above, good info to have out here for when someone else searches for the answer in the next few years.
On the B&O Listserv, I got this answer:
"Baldwin built B&O’s 30 EM-1 in two batches in two years:
1944: 7600 - 7619 Larger forward sand dome
1945: 7620 - 7629. Smaller forward sand dome that matches the back sand dome on the boiler.
This is the key visual difference between the first 20 and the last 10."
