Sunset 3rd Rail Electroliner stuck in forward

I have a Sunset 3rd Rail Electroliner that seems to have a Train America mother board and TMCC in it. Running it in conventional mode with a ZW. It is stuck in forward whether the Run/Program switch is in "Run" or "Program". This is the only switch it seems to have. Instruction sheet says it should be in "Run" to run in conventional. Put in a new battery, it didn't make a difference (the battery probably only affects sound anyway?) Can't find any other switch, such as for locking the reverse sequencing. Suggestions? Thanks.

Did you take the shell off to see if a wire became disconnected from the switch for the run/program ability????

Yes. I gave it a good visual inspection. Gave the various plugs and boards a little wiggle, too. I might further check with a meter to confirm that the switch still works and trace it to the board to make sure. There is no difference in behavior no matter how the switch is thrown.

Heard back from Scott Mann at Sunset Third Rail and he suggested doing the reset ("Press [ENG][1] [AUX][8]") but this requires a command control system which I don't have. Is there any way to manually reset these things?
