You can connect those to an SC-2 so you can use your Cab2.
thank you you just saved me a lot of money
Item to note about the TMCC SC-2 SWITCH CONTROLLER SKU: 6-22980
Make sure you check out and read the FasTrack Remote Switch Owner's Manual.
Around Page 10 they show how to wire the FasTrack Switch to the SC-2.
There is a "NOTE! Do not connect your FasTrack switch to the #1 terminal on the SC-2"
Bottom Line - You can not connect a FasTrack switch to Terminal #1, but you can utilize terminals #2, #3, #4, #5 and #6. This means the SC-2 can support 5 FasTrack Switches.
------------------------
Additional information from the SC-2 Owners' Manual - around page 6 - 7. There are three ways of powering the SC-2
- The Lionel AC wall power pack connection
- The 2-Wire Auxiliary Power Connector (Two wire Screw Connection - next to "Terminal #2")
- Power from the Switch connected to "Terminal #1"
All of the above information is documented information provided by Lionel in their manuals.
--------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- ---------
Unofficial findings - Not provided by Lionel -
- When the SC-2 unit itself is powered - the power is shared between the Auxiliary Power connection and "Terminal #1"
- If you connect a FasTrack Switch to "Terminal #1", the SC-2 will send power down to the FasTrack switch and could/can damage the internal circuit board that is installed inside the FasTrack Switch
Unofficial workaround - NOT from Lionel or Supported by Lionel
- There is "Trace" that runs between the "Auxiliary Power Connector" and "Terminal #1" that can be broken by "scratching" through it.
- Once broken, "Terminal #1" is isolated from the Auxiliary Power connector which then makes "Terminal #1" similar to "Terminals #2~#6" This isolation will allow you to use FasTrack Switch on "Terminal #1"
Risk vs Reward.
Reward
- Have access to Terminal #1 for FasTrack Switch
Risk
- Unsupported by Lionel
- Need to modify the SC-2
- Voids warrantee
- Could damage/break SC-2
- if not don't properly - could damage devices connected to SC-2
- You assume all the risk
While this is doable - if you are not comfortable with making this modification, taking items apart, potentially breaking something, don't do it. Leave the SC-2 as-is and do not connect a FasTrack Switch to "Terminal #1"
