It's #SwitcherSaturday time!!!!

Lots of us out there love switchers (shifters, docksiders, yard goats, critters, etc.), so lets keep #SwitcherSaturday (a.k.a. SWSAT) rolling!

If you missed last week's SWSAT (which was hosted by @trumpettrain - thank you!) you should really go take a look, it was a ton of fun!

This week I stopped by the Rappahannock Model Railroaders clubhouse and ran my LionChief+ NYC #8244 RS-3 (Lionel 6-38779).  I anticipate taking lots of pictures of their layout over the coming weeks/months, especially since my layout is under construction.

Speaking about the layout, here's an update:  I have three of the 5 sections of benchwork done, maybe I'll be able to finish it up this weekend.  I need to pickup some LED work lights too for that area as it seems pretty dark (the picture seems brighter than it really is down there).

I hope everyone has a nice weekend and if you get a chance - please post some switcher stuff here!

All the best...Rich Murnane

p.s. Miss the post on Saturday? NO BIG DEAL, just keep posting pictures of your favorites until the next #SwitcherSaturday

Discussion this week of the Russian Decapod, a very small decapod.

A beautiful Shawmut 2-10-0 went for a good price on eBay a couple weeks ago! I missed winning it because of a computer glitch...oh my aching heart!

The PS&N is one of my top three favorite railroads and I saw this decapod and wanted it! I am green with envy! If you ever want to part with it, let me know. It looks great on your layout. Nice!

Yay! SWSat is on!

On this 99th anniversary of Armistice Day I am posting a few of my European  O scale Switchers. The lined green 0-4-0 was made in the 1930's German Karl Bub. Sometime before I got it it lost its tender and bell. It runs very well and has a cool plunger on top right behind the smoke stack that if you pull it up the engine reverses.

The green 0-4-0 side tank is Czech made in the early 2000's from ETS.

Happy SWSat everyone and have a great cold weekend.

Happy SWSat Everyone!

Happy Veterans Day to all who served- Thank you!!

Rich- good to see benches up already! Great switcher stuff everyone.

This week on the RSJ&B started poorly when a clumsy engineer knocked his 0-6-0 Docksider to the floor with a stray elbow. To say he was upset is an understatement. Well after a quick inspection I found nothing worse than a dislodged bell and a small chip on the cab roof. The fireman took a bit of a tumble too but he was checked out at the scene of the accident and went right back to work.

It must have landed flat on its side, not even a bent grab bar or side rod. These are tough little switchers. I'm happy to report that its back on the rails working the yards.

finally got to take 1656 for a quick run (quick because the drawbar was MIA when I bought the locomotive) and we all know you can't run a steamer without it's tender., or rods...

1656

got some bugs to work out, bent wheel or axle. Nothing the shop can't handle.

I love the posts so far guys, I really do hope all of you who are Veterans have a great day, thank you so much for your service and sacrifice.

I spent my morning (after posting the SWSAT post) helping the Rappahannock Model Railroaders get the modular layout up and running at the Fredericksburg Virginia mall.  It was a good learning experience and I'm going to bring a train or two by to run at some point this weekend, you bet it's going to be a switcher.

I tried getting my Atlas O B&O SW900 running at the club layout the other day but the TMCC on it didn't "wake up" with their DCS systems, the engine looked "dead".  I brought it home and tried it out on a conventional loop and it ran like a champ.  I'll need to figure that one out I guess, I only have a few things which run in command (the SW900, a big C&O steamer, and the LionChief+ RS-3 via handheld device).

Great photos everyone!!  Glad to see your progress Rich!  Looks good!

Happy Verterans Day and special thank you to all who served!  I played my trumpet this morning for a Veterans Day ceremony at our local cemetery.  It was a great honor for me to do this.

Here are some photos, taken last evening, of switchers working in around ( figuratively and literally ) Patsburg this week..... Pennsy scale 44 ton ( by Williams ), C&O 0-8-0 ( Lionel ), Patapsco and Back Rivers VO 1000 ( MTH ), and a B&O Plymouth ( K line )

Have a fun and creative week everyone!!  IMG_3862IMG_3865IMG_3873IMG_3876IMG_3889IMG_3893IMG_3891IMG_3870IMG_3866
