Rich, thanks for starting us up and for that classic railroad photo.

My contribution is one of my new #228 prewar Pennsy switchers getting ready for the wintery mix we should be getting later today.

 Next Sunday is the Toy & Train Show at the Westchester County Center in White Plains, NY. Weather permitting, I should be there with fellow OGR member "Fireman" Joe Krasko.

On my way in to work yesterday the loco was running light, on track right by the road entrance to the plant.  I know they are remote controlled, but it’s still unnerving to see a full size locomotive moving with no one in the cab!

A little french critter, just powerfull enough to push one or two cars. It has been made in 1934 for use in local industries and a good number have been preserved all around the country. it was nicknamed "the horn beast" due to the size of the die cat pushing bumpers. it would be fun to make one in o gauge but not really easy due to the size and finding a motor of small volume, but certainly a future project. This one is awaiting a complete restoration in a roundhouse.

So I was looking at some pictures of my old layout that wrapped around my tiny office/walk in closet in my old NYC apartment. It really was tiny maybe 4 feet across  but I had fun with it  initially I made it so I could do a drop in bridge to complete the loop but I found that I mostly ran it without the bridge as a switch layout . It was fun to play with the upper level was really just a  storage shelf that stood in for my more mainline trains.

Former New Hope and Ivyland 0-6-0 No. 9, aka; Virginia Blue Ridge No. 9, nee US Army No. 4023 built in 1942 is undergoing an extensive restoration to operation at the shops at SMS in Bridgeport, NJ. Once completed, the railroad hopes to use the locomotive to supplement its fleet used to switch cars in and around the facility.

 WK&S 0-6-0T #65 has been taken into the shop, and it appears that she is going to be restored back to operation.

US Army/Navy S100 0-6-0T #5002 has begun her restoration at the shop of Brett Goertemoeller, owner of BMG Railroad Contractors

Another great start to Saturday. Lot's of great switcher stuff so far. Looks like the snow is going to stay up north tonight and tomorrow. Stay safe if you are in the path of the storm.

This week another new arrival has made it to the RSJ&B. A Lionel 6-18814 D&H RS-3 # 8814 switcher. The D&H has become one of my favorite lines and works well with my East Coast tendencies.

Rich, I see you have gotten us off to another fine day of switchers!  Excellent photographs everyone.  Some may classify this as a road engine, but others would let it slide as a switcher, so I am going to take a chance.

Great work guys, another successful switcher Saturday

Got up at 5:45 this morning and quickly left town to visit Trainstock 11 at the NJ Hi-Railers in Paterson, NJ - so didn't have time to post. It is a phenomenal model railroad and I recommend a visit if you have the opportunity.

Charlie, I always watch the Pittsburgh Lego Group's layout at the Monroeville Greenberg Shows when I go!  Wow!  A little PRR 0-4-0!  I have one.  Western Maryland BL2!!  I have two MTH O gauge ones!  They have certainly come a long way from the simple Lego building blocks we had in the '60s!!

Nice pics everyone.  I seen these AGP switchers sitting out , below 0 today. They look cold but always enjoy watching them load grain cars. The reason they are out is track repair around the elevators. Nick T.

For those who said "Thank you" - "Your Welcome!", and Charlie thanks for taking that pic of that Lego switcher for me.

The Greenberg show in Richmond was nice yesterday, no switchers came home with me unfortunately - but the critter below  almost did, as did a beautiful Lionel PW NW-2 C&O #624 that was upgraded to TMCC.  I didn't pull the trigger on either of them though (still paying Christmas bills!), I only picked up a few little things for the layout and an inexpensive B&O Railking Rounded Roof Boxcar (30-7429), which I think you'll be seeing next week.

This Ford Vulcan switcher apparently started out as a D&RG and usually I'm not big on complete remodels but this thing looked awesome and I was really tempted.

I think we may have reviewed this before here on SWSAT, I can't recall (and have only had one cup of coffee so far).

Hey Mark - When I was 11 years old I heard the B&O local freight arriving in Savage, Md.  It came three days each week to switch a Westinghouse appliance distribution warehouse, cement plant and a team track.   Right away I pedaled my bike as fast as I could to meet the train.  When I arrived the GP7 was sitting on the Westinghouse spur waiting for a warehouse crew to finish unloading the final bit of payload from one of the 5 boxcars.   As I stood there next to the engine, the conductor asked me if I wanted to come aboard and ride with them as they did the switching in Savage for the day.  Of course I said YES!! How cool it was!  The crew was super nice and the engineer let me blow the horn each time the train crossed route one on one of its up and back switching moves.  That experience is burned into my brain.   Your photos remind of that time.  The loco had the same paint scheme, of course its always hard to disquish between a GP 7 or 9 externally ... however I guess your photo is a GP9 given the dynamic brake blister on the hood.  Many thanks for the memories!

Pat, that is a great story from your boyhood.  They would have to have a special arrangement ahead of time to do that today.  I never got an opportunity to see the engines stopped since they had removed the lone siding at Valencia, Pennsylvania before I can remember.  The engineer or fireman and the conductor would always wave at the crossing when I was there on my bicycle.  Thank you for telling us your story!
