It's Switcher Saturday!!!!

Love switchers, shifters, docksiders, yard goats, critters? Join the fun and lets keep #SwitcherSaturday (a.k.a. SWSAT) rolling!

In cased you missed it, here is the link to last week's SWSAT, the Saturday crew last week posted some great stuff!
https://ogrforum.com/...turday-2019-april-27

My picture today is of my K-Line MP-15 / NYC #2231, it's a conventional engine that normally sits on a siding at the Richmond, Chesapeake, and Hudson Yard (RiCHY) - waiting to be called to duty. Today it's shifting around flatcars with vehicles, getting them ready to be sent out from the RiCHY to points north like New York City and beyond.

Enjoy your weekend, May the Force (or fourth) be with you, and when you get a chance - please post some switcher stuff here!

You know the rules:

1. if it's related to switchers (model switchers, prototypes, critters, switching yards, switching layouts) - we want to see it! Videos, Pics, Stories (true or fictional), poems, whatever!

2. if you miss the post on Saturday? NO BIG DEAL, just keep posting pictures of your favorites until the next #SwitcherSaturday

3. keep it friendly - we want this to be fun. (we haven't had any problems with grumpy trolls, I'd like to keep it that way)

Yay! SWSat is on!

Good morning Rich and Mike CT. Always nice to see helpers in service.

Happy Free Comicbook day. One of my other hobbies invades. But what is so bad about going to a comic book shop and getting some free comic books. My kids enjoy it every year.

Here are a few more pictures I took on my trip to Montréal and Exporail.

Here is the old CN tower for the train station and they are still using F40s so here is one.13A3F33A-78CE-4F7E-B8F2-5991DF384F4F727409B1-8E7E-4762-A2FA-B981458A2827

Rich speaking of “May the 4th be with you”, here are some of my old Star Wars Kenner metal mini figures from the 80’s that are o scale about fighting over my switcher shelves. Sadly I can’t find my Chewbacca one because the actor passed this week.

Have a great weekend. I can’t wait to see what you guys post.

Happy Switcher Saturday everyone! Thanks for starting us up Rich.

Rich mentioned the various terms switchers have been labelled with over the years including the term "shifters" as the Pennsy called them.

Here is my prewar Pennsy shifter #228:

Also, I was Googling around last night and found this Shifter sandwich! As I type this, it is 8:15 in the morning, so lunch may not seem too interesting...but it does look good. Maybe, if any of our Switcher Saturday comrades live near Columbia, Pennsylvania, in Lancaster County, they could test out the sandwich and let us know.

Rich thanks for firing up SWSAT again.  K-line made a few NYC MP15s and in the B&W photo I can tell the color, is that black or green?

Mike CT nice job with that "lash-up".

Andy, Exporail looked like a fun time.  Nice Star Wars figures.

Daniel that is a very fine "homemade" switcher.

Mel does that 0-8-0 ever run on the big layout?

Happy SWSat! May the 4th Be With You!

Thanks for getting us started again Rich!

Great posts and pix so far everyone.

This week the RSJ&B welcomed two new fallen flags to the roster. Both are old northeast RR's so they will work in well shifting cars around the yards. Now I need to get some rolling stock to match

Good morning fellow switcher fans!!  Thanks Rich for getting us rolling this morning! I also have a K line MP15 ( Kennecott Copper ) that sits on a siding in Shelf Yard most of the time.  Like yours, it is rarely called to service.  I bought it because my late uncle Leon was a traffic manager for Kennecott Copper where he dealt with many railroads, including Nevada Northern which was owned by Kennecott.  I don't think Kennecott ever owned a railroad bearing the Kennecott name ... but its good to have this piece ( and a KC gondola ) as part of my layout.   Great photos and info everyone!

Today on the Free State Junction Railway the company photographer snapped these photos just yesterday in the gritty & grimmy industrial side of town .... a B&O GP 9 & SW 9 on the point of a freight ... a SW9 does some switch work .... and a Pennsy A5 doing some switching work ... as well as some photos of these locos in the yard.   Now I must get the train room ready.  Some kids in the neighborhood are coming this morning to view the FSJR.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!  And yes, as Rich said " May the fourth be with you!"IMG_9460IMG_9467IMG_9476IMG_9478IMG_9480IMG_9464IMG_9468IMG_9474IMG_9496IMG_9507IMG_9523IMG_9546IMG_9550IMG_9548IMG_9552IMG_9554IMG_9539IMG_9555

Great timing Bob with your saying

One more May the 4th be with you post.

I found the Chewbacca. Here he goes in a little MPC era scene with the only Star Wars car Lionel ever made. 7813 the 1977 Holiday car has an R2D2 in its decoration. My guess is that since MPC could make models of Star Wars things this one skirted legal.

I have been looking about 12 years for this at a good price. I finally got it in January at the White Plains toy train show for $10.

Great posts so far today.Glad to see that the fun sized BAR GP7 Bob  posted earlier  was able to stretch back out to full size in BAR GP7#63s post.
