At the tail end of a short freight train this Tuesday, January 30, 2024 is Rutland Railroad wood caboose #36, a recent MTH model that I bought from Forum sponsor Public Delivery Track. At the head end is Rutland #500, a Williams-by-Bachmann model of a General Electric 70-Ton switcher locomotive. The consist also includes Rutland double-sheathed wood boxcar #8086, another MTH special run model that I bought from Public Delivery Track. The model of Rutland #36 carries “Route of The Whippet” livery. The Whippet was a quick-turnaround fast freight train that began in 1939. The New York Central Railroad had a financial interest in the Rutland from 1915 until 1941 and the prototype of #36 is an NYC caboose. In the 1950s, #36 was painted in the Rutland’s modern green and yellow paint scheme.

Well T.E.T. fans, here is a consist for you from nearly a century ago.  The AF steeple cab # 3110 available in 1928-1929 pulls a series of cars from the same era labeled "Oriental Limited" with the baggage car having the Great Northern logo.

Here is the T.E.T. view with the Oriental Limited Pullman and observation car.

As near as I can tell Bob it would be the MTH  Premier  # 20-91225 or # 91253  Pennsylvania N-6b Caboose with Operating Signal Man.            There could be other numbers.   I'm seeing prices ranging from $ 103 to $ 145  .......seems high.....I don't think I would have sprung for that high of a price.

The operation does require the MTH 40-1008  O  Realtrax  10 " Operating Track Section.        See one on Trainworld site for $ 34.99.

Thank you!

There is a post from 10 / 12 / 15  on the FORUM  .

The heading reads  "MTH  PENNSYLVANIA  CABOOSE  W / OPERATING  SIGNALMAN.

It seems there might be another way to work the signalman. Also there seems to have been this model with several road names according to this thred .

Thanks again Dallas; when I was searching, Bradys trains came up. Their write up indicated the bell button on a modern transformer or the MTH RCS track will activate it. The search is on!
