So my loving wife wanted this red, white, and blue McCoy TCA flat car with some wagons and I bought it for her. I knew one wagon wheel was a zinc pest poster child but the rest failed in shipping. It arrived today with all but 2 of the wagon wheels crumbled to pieces....and small...even too tiny for a week of JB Weld. So, with that said where can I find some wagon wheels, both the front small ones and large rear ones?

a very common problem on these and all the circus wagons. McCoy did make repro wheels, some were resin or plastic. Hard to find. Best bet is try and contact the McCoys and as if still available. I have another idea, but will have to wait till I get home and look in a book.

Bonnie McCoy does have replacement white plastic wheels for these, I got some from her recently.

Jeff,
The McCoy replacement wheels are white plastic and, frankly, not very attractive replacements. I got some replacement cast metal wheels from a parts vendor at York. This was not one of the big parts dealers, but a smaller one who dealt in other small detail parts. Of course I can not remember who it is. But they are the best replacements I have found to this point.
The large wheels measure 1.450 and the small wheels are 1.065, both are .185 thick at the tread.
they look great and could most likely be found online with a little searching. I think they were around $10-$12 for the set.
Hope this helps.

Maybe try these folks...

Never tried them as my life is a circus without having to model one! lol
All of my McCoy circus flat car wagons eventually became victims of the vicious 'zinc pest'. Bonnie sent me the white plastic replacement wheels. I airbrushed them with some Testors silver and they look just fine.

The Grandt Line 1/4 scale set looks promising.

The Grandt Line wheels are only 3/4" and 1" diameter (too small)

Agreed if you are trying to match a fleet of them, but to date Jeff only has the one so nothing around it to throw the visual off.

Jeff,
I have some of the large wheels that you can have. They are unplated zinc (bare metal).
I have replaced my failed wheels with the white plastic that I painted with a chrome paint. They look OK.
I will be running McCoy Circus trains at the TTOS convention at the Queen Mary next month.

Hello David,
That will help. I just need to find the small ones also. I have looked on the bay and see some G gauge that might work. I have not been online until today since Denyse went through her first Chemo session yesterday. She is doing okay but yesterday was a long 10.5 hour day. I look forward to seeing you in Long Beach!
