My wife and I were talking last night, and she told me that she really likes when the trains are up high. She wants me to do this in the living room for Christmas every year, but she wants me to take it down every year as well. Any thoughts of how to do this? I'm at a loss.

This will be hard to do without leaving some visible stuff after the layout is down.  For example there are vertical brackets that screw to the wall that you can slide in shelf brackets that can be removed again, but the vertical remains.  These verticals could be painted the same color as the wall, but are unlikely to be acceptable.  I could also imagine some type of socket in the wall for dowel rods to slide in, but again the socket remains.  Might be able to hang something from screw eyes, but again the eyes remain.

Are the walls regular drywall?  Is there any molding (like crown molding) that might help?
