First, many thanks to John, Gunrunner John, for the CV board for replacement of the bad board in my MTH Big Boy. It is functioning as should. However, only need for classification lights (6v) as the headlight and cab light will be powered from the ERR DC Commander 12V, and have 12V rice bulbs used in both. Smoke unit is powered from 12V smoke feature of same ERR DC Commander. I have previously changed out the firebox bulb to 12V-18V bulb powered from track power.
Second, George, GGG, asked about meter readings on the old, burned resistor CV board AG-0000012. As follows:
Had metered input of 12V AC: J1 (cab light/firebox) 19.5 DC
J2 (smoke unit) 6.1 DC not used, wired direct to track power by MTH
J3 (headlight) 18.9 DC
J4 (classification) 19.5 DC
J5 (open/not used) 18.9 DC
All of the lights originally power from the CV board (cab, firebox, headlight, class) are rated 6V as installed by MTH.
This is all on a 1997 PS1 MTH Union Pacific Big Boy #4012. Bought new in 1997 and like detail, running and this is second (more involved) upgrade to TMCC/RS. Put the old TMCC/RS in Weaver U.P. FEF #8444, removed PS1 system formerly inside.
Also performed upgrade of smoke units(2) to new fan motor, enlarged air input hole in pc board, trying carbon saturated felt along with new wick material. Have powered as free standing units and like the resulting smoke output.
An interesting upgrade and learning more all the time. Hmmmmm... perhaps next is John's chuff gen and super chuff? But, before then I have other PS1 engines to change over to TMCC/RS from ERR.....
OH yeah... with upgrades of lights and smoke from ERR Commander, changed tether from 4 pin to 10 pin tether.
