The future's so bright.....(Rock Island trains)

The new scheme,although really eye catching, held more promise than the road could deliver. It's a shame it became known as "Bankruptcy Blue".

The RR-Fallen Flags website says that 4425 is a GP7.

 

Here is 4426.

 

 

Comparing the body of the Williams O Scale/O Gauge General Purpose diesel locomotive to the Bachmann HO Scale GP7, it looks like a GP7.

 

The road number correctly matches the body style.

 

It looks great.

My favorite livery since I first saw it rolling into northwest Houston in the late Seventies and post-bankruptcy on another railroad in the Texas Coastal Bend in the early Eighties.  Accumulated six locomotives and thirty pieces of 'The Rock' and 'Route Rock' rolling stock to underscore my affinity for the black, blue and white livery.  Even dislodged me as a Lionel purist to take advantage of MTH's offerings, since Lionel never made enough. 

 

Did I mention a slightly less passionate affinity for MKT's even scarcer (for now) green and yellow 'John Deere' livery of the Seventies and Eighties?

 

Hmmmmmmm.......MKT.......another cool color combo.......

My Great Grand father was a grain inspector that traveled the Rock Island line all over Kansas.
One odd one off scheme from this era I've never seen done in any scale was the Rock Island Bicentenial paint scheme. It almost is a transitional bridge from bright red to Backruptcy blue.
