I'm sure that the first run was gratifying, you've had a long period of withdrawal. Lookin' good, can't wait to see what you create this time.
Alex
the curves came out great. what are the dimensions looks bigger than 072.
Steve
Looking good, Alex!

Hi John, it was quite a busy and long day, I can't thank you enough for all the help you've giving me.
Steve, the curves are 088 and 080
Thanks very much,
Alex
Congrats you are on your way!!!!
The layout is progressing nicely! Those wide sweeping curves look fantastic! If you don't mind me asking, are the curves custom (I.e flex track)?
If so, did you create a custom jig in order to bend the track to your desired radius?
Best,
Michael
Thanks Don.
Thanks Michael, the curves are GarGraves 37 inch flex track. There was no jig made to form the track, I had the privilege of being helped by fellow forum member John Brendle who forms/bends track free hand. With a few hours of John's training is was able to form/bend the track too, his method is fantastic!!!.
Thanks,
Alex
It's looking great Alex! I really like your track plan.
Nice execution of the plan Alex & John! Did you decide against the two tracks to the TT?
Alex. really moving along now. Looks great. Makes you work hard and fast with an August deadline.
Great work
Kevin
Alex,
Care to share the way you made the curves - maybe a small video from you or John? Would love to see how you made those sweeping curves.
I watched Rich B's video again an he has am interesting technique as well.

Niccce!
Very nice Alex.
Thanks Ryan,Carl,Kevin,MikeR,Adriatic, and N5CJonny for the nice comments !!!!!!
Mike R , you have to come by and run a few of your engines when my layout is fully wired up.
Kevin, It would be great to post a video but the video would be at least an hour long. From start to finish with every detail it would take that long. The only thing I can do is explain it when i have the open house on August 8th .
Thanks again to all,
Alex
Alex,
As usual you and your better half will have a very serious layout, can't wait to see the trains running again!
PCRR/Dave
It's getting there Alex! Great to see the video of the first run. I'll be off for a week in June. I'll contact you closer to the date to see if you need any help. Looking forward to the open house in August. You and Dina take care.
Ahhhhhhh! I have been wondering when we would see more of your progress. Lumber, saw dust, laying track, wiring, powering up. Can't wait to see your scenic progress. August is not too far off. Congrats.
The only thing I can do is explain it when i have the open house on August 8th .
Looking forward to seeing the progress then!
Hi Alex
Great progress and inspiration. There probably are a lot like me that lokk and watch closely but don't always post. Your progress is one of my priorities now. keep it up.
Ray
Hi Guys
Thanks Dave,Johnny,Pennsynut,GRJ,AND Ray, for the very kind comments
Johnny, let me know the days you're off, it will be great to have you here for a couple days. I can definitely use your help.
Thanks again,
Alex
Very nice Alex. I agree with everyone that the first run is so gratifying and exciting. Well done.
Alex,
Just saw the video of the first run. Nice and clean, saw you are using Ross switches, are you using Gargraves or Ross Track? I think you mentioned in a previous post is was Gargraves.
One of rich batista's black diamond videos shows how to bend mth scaletrax. Very similar process but with Gargraves you will need temporary oversized screws with washers to hold the track. Once bent permanent screws installed
Ben,
I saw that in the video, I was wondering if Alex used a jig. Process appears to be the same. I tried it a few times on Gargraves & Ross but got a few kinks so I thought their might be an alternative.
I used a Circle Cutting Jig and made some curves and I use that as a guide. Little extra work but now I get a smoother curve.

Probably very carefully

That's what I was thinking. It looks like about 8 foot wide there, that'll be a challenge.
I'm going to hover over the train table to reach those spots. I have the ability to float in mid air. LOL LOL
Of course there's going to be access hatches in those area's.On the right side where the town area is and on the left side where the industrial area is. There would be no other way. My old layout had more access hatches than a submarine.LOL !!! This one will have too!!
Thanks,
Alex
I figured you had it covered Alex, just wondered how you were doing it.
Very nice Alex.
Hello everyone,
Here's a few updated photo's of the layout. Roundhouse and Turntable are in along with the yard tracks, and a few sidings. Also a lot of progress has been made on the control panel, with a lot of help from my good friend Johnny aka Trainnut.
Hope you enjoy!!!!!!
