Hello everyone,

It might not look like to much has been done, but lighting has been relocated,Ceiling tiles repaired ,  floor has been scraped, all the walls have been repaired and painted with the first coat. The Second coat will be a bit darker, this weekend i will patch any holes in the cement floor and we will epoxy the layout room floor. After that the bench work will be started.

Thanks for looking,

Alex

Eliot, that video was the best, love it !!!!!!  I was so small in this video, i think i weighed 167lbs now I'm 191. LOL  !!!!!!

Gary, no video's yet. Soon

Bill, the bench work and track will be done, and trains will be running. Most likely no scenery.

We will have our open house in August!!!!!!

Dave, This work comes easy to me, i was a carpenter for many many years.

Kevin, Come to my open house in August, and you will see the new basement and layout!!!

John, I wish i had a secret vault, to keep trains. LOL

John, what you see in the picture was done in 4 days, most of my time is being spent on

build ups and engine repairs, with exercising between that.

Matthew, the best thing to do is just rip out one little part of your layout and then you will get into a grove, before you know it the layout will be gone.

Mike R , the bench you see in the photos was my old workshop bench. The new bench work will go right over that, the reason I'm going over it is I would need a wrecking ball to knock the work bench DOWN!. Plus i want the new bench work higher.

Ben, yes 15 percent, pins and needles!!!!!!

Rick0, I'm still doing build ups, and engine repairs, the layout progress is being done occasionally.

I thank you all for the great comment's, questions, and interest.

Alex,

At 1st I thought you must have had a complete mental break down, I remember  dismantling my nice size layout, which was not any where near as large as yours was, and I actually was stunned that you started a massive re-engineering project.

Looks like you have it well in hand however, trying to keep the investment down to a roar is going to be a challenge today.  I am definitely looking forward to seeing your new engineering ideas take shape.

Have fun and be careful building.

Alex keep posting the pictures as you build, I love seeing them.

Alex, you bet I will- I still have not made my new track plan yet. Basement is 100% complete- lights, tile floor, full bath. a man cave that needs a new layout.

Using RR tracks software to do the design - not sure if it will be a "L" or a U or just one giant square with access points. Looking for ideas and recommendations.

Not sure which switched to use yet.

My plan, do the design, then put the requirements out as an RFP.

Making progress - keep up the good work.
