The New Jersey Hi-Railers presents the 2014 Halloween Monster Spooktacular

Heh John - do you guys let your guests add monsters to the layout?.... we were thinking that we would ask ours to bring their favorite monsters..... follow your lead..... 

Hi Mr. Muffin,

I have thought of that concept a few years back, but have not tried it yet.   Most of the monsters for our show are provided by myself.  It's been a solo act for several years since I first started the tradition.  In the last few years, however, some of the members have contributed some creatures to the menagerie because of how fun it can be.  Marty, when he was alive, asked me every year, "Are you going to put the monsters up?  Do you have enough monsters?."  And as the vice-president, John S., says to our guests, "It is ever evolving!"

If you know the right guests, go for it!  It could be fun.

I would love to see some photos of what happens if you do decide to do it.

Ah, perfect timing . . . what with ]Godzilla coming out on streaming services next week, and all.

Funny you should say that, Lee.  Recently, we had a "visitor" to Silk City.

It all happens this Sunday, if you are in the NJ area be sure not to miss it. it will be Spooktacular

So true.  I've seen it in the past, and it's terrifyingly good.  Would scare the jelly out of a doughnut.

Gojera!!!, Love a good lizard flick, Big G is the main man(Big Lizard) however others get honerable mention, Rodan, Gorgo, Mothra, Kong, now you guys need to run some Subway cars so the King(Kong) can do a little pounding and Godzilla a little foot pounding, you need to stick a little Ben in the subway car.

When the Lionel Batman Subway Series ships, along with the add on cars of Two Face and Scarecrow, it will make a nice add to run on the layout. And will get to see the distance when using the Lion Chief Remote in the subways of NJHR.

The number of monsters on the layout is very impressive and Godzilla is the icing on the cake!  A must see for children of all ages :-) and they run trains as well, go figure.

The event on Sunday was a big success.  We had the most attendance for a first open house in a long while, including a 50-count birthday party for a little boy named Chase.
