Lionelville: Destination Adventure Part 2.

It's been over 13 years since we last saw the Pullmor kids and Dr. ZW.  Are they still lost in time?  Is Dr. ZW up to saving the world?  Is part 2 in on a thumb drive on Ryan Kunkle's desk underneath a discarded Workbench Wednesday project?  We've been hanging off this cliff too long!

The original summary from Part 1 on IMdb...

On the eve of Lionel's annual Christmas display, a fiendish plot to steal the company's breakthrough technology goes awry, ripping a hole in the fabric of time and space. Years later, teenage twins Nancy and Bobby Pullmor seek to uncover what happened that night, embarking on a perilous journey to an enchanted world where Lionel's spectacular displays have literally come to life.

What amazed me was the fact that the movie revolved around this new advanced train-yet Lionel didn't think it was important to manufacturer one. I thought they wanted to sell trains; I guess I was wrong.

I think it had more to do with the short-lived iPad video game they released around the same time "Lionel Battletrain."  The game never took off (it was kinda fun, tho), iOS updates killed it, and so the DVD series went by the wayside as well.  I guess they thought that the game and DVD series would drive kids' interest in trains, and it just didn't pan out that way.

I remember that for a couple of Yorks, big dealers were offering a free gift with any purchase over a certain amount (about the cost of a bargain piece of rolling stock), and that gift was a free copy of the Lionelville DVD.  I got several copies that way, and eventually was able to give them away.  I kept the one I actually paid for by way of my LHS.  I also witnessed a few people declining these free gifts.  I still occasionally see copies gathering dust on train store shelves.  I would not give them to a kid because of the "Eternal Cliffhanger" / "To (never) Be Continued..." factor.
