How many of you do a little OGR Forum browsing while at work? I took this photo today and thought it might be fun to see who else is browsing during their workday.

Wow! I used to work in television many years ago, but my switcher only had six rows of buttons. That setup is VERY impressive.
I have the forum up on my PC most of the day, but since I am officially retired, it’s not technically “work” any more.

Lol Dave! What's one more screen I suppose!😆
I would never admit to any wrong doing, but I have my eye on the forum during most of the work day
Me too, my personal laptop is open with the Forum open most of the day while I work. Probably look at too much!
I do when I’m on break, or waiting for a program to run, or waiting on a complete code gathering to happen…..I’ll split this screen up, sneak a peak, comment on something, then disappear for a while ……I know the owner, so it’s ok,…although I get to feeling guilty, …..so back to work I go,…..😢

Keep in mind that I’ve been retired for 12 years now, so can say this:
I can’t believe this! You guys get back to work and stay off this model train forum during working hours! Do you want to lose your jobs?
My last employer blocked all online forums. Cell coverage in the building was about 1 bar, and I don't like browsing with my phone anyway. My only choice was to retire!
I do, when taking breaks when waiting for things to finish and so forth. My company does block outside web sites, for example we can't access outside mail systems using work computers, and they block inappropriate content or sites with questionable security. Sometimes it is weird, though, they block IMDB (the movie site), but not other places that are similar. When things are busy I don't look at the net much if at all.

I guess that's true. I do work hard when the work needs done.

Pat - When you talk to the owner, is it a long conversation about trains?😳😳😳
It's amazing how things that we didn't have not too long ago are now essential to our everyday existence. My first look at the Forum is usually around 9 AM (except for Switcher Saturday around 7 AM) and I'm on and off all day. I look at the Forum throughout the day, in the evening, and it's usually the last thing I look at before shutting down the computer for the night - rarely before midnight. But I'm retired.

Hey Pat,
One thing you have to admit is "when you talk to the owner, you know he's always there". Nyuk Nyuk Nyuk! Really nice shop! Is the 55 for sale?

That one belongs to a client John, …..it just got through assessment, ….part of my job every day is to knock the winds out of people’s sails when they realize the half-finished, or on this case, 1/3rd finished project they just bought will require two mortgages, & a bank robbery ……that poor fella had sticker shock, ……but what you see is all he has,…..no other parts …( I’m on lunch BTW, so forum ok ) 😄
Pat
Well for the last 10 years they didnt allow any screens in the cab of the train LOL Retired now so look more often Before that I had a cart that I used to plug in in this room
And when I first joined no matter how hard I tried I couldn't get a 3279 to display the forum

My law practice deals mostly with divorces, bankruptcy and other "not so pleasant" stuff.
The Forum is my very frequently visited "sanity break."
The "regulars" seem like friends, even though I have never personally met most of them.
I have made a many purchases, along the way... and never been burned by any of the Forum's "frequent fliers."
What a great bunch! and... What a great hobby!
I’m a teacher, so not while students are in the room. Thankfully, I don’t have students in the room during lunch!
Not as many screens at my desk, but I do look at OGR on my breaks.
Hey Ben,
That computer room reminds me of the TMCC Camelbacks that I'm working on with all that wire in those Patch Panels: 100 speed steps (CCM), chuff generator, super chuffer (both GRJ's), Flickering led's for a real fire effect ( GRJ's schematic ) S gauge smoke unit, cab light, serial data buffer( GRJ's) boy you want to talk about wire management, WHEW! 10 lbs of that manure in a 5lb bag, doing 3 Camelbacks (Widow Makers). I think that was a CNJRR term, not sure.

Look on the bright side Pat. At least you don't have to get up from your chair to find him, and if you get into an argument, you can just shut up.......argument over......

PS- I love the show "Fantom Works"....kind of sums up that Chevy sitting in your shop....
This photo rings a few bells, though around 1991 where I worked (applications programmer) started using PC workstations dialed through to the Real Computer. Before that it was 3278's (ever lifted one of those?) and some 3279's.
I retired in 2004; and I honestly do not remember whether I was on the Forum or not back then. I did use eBay at work then (back when you won an item and sent a check to pay for it - or at least that was an option). After I retired I had oh, so too much of computers that I did not even have a functional one at home until about 2012. I still don't like them and am on here only about 2 hours a day.
This my son's home base. I don't have any pics of my old datacenter command centers but they kind of put these to shame. No idea what it might look like now as I'm retired 8+ years now.

Me too, it makes for a nice break at my law office, which I'm taking at this very moment.
Have you ever heard this hobby can become an Addiction? Many of you die hard model railroaders can understand what I’m saying, and this OGR Forum is also addictive, being retired, I check in and out many times during the day and evening via my IPad. It’s so much fun. Great thread @Dave Slie. Happy Railroading Everyone
Love this thread!! By the way, like many of you, I am on the forum but too many times it is more work than pleasure!

Comes with the job description Alan.
😃
I do when I take a break. The forum is always lively!
Well that’s cool!
When Dave isn’t pushing the buttons, he’s making TikTok videos with the dancing weather girl.
I’m retired so I can look anytime. I have lots of retirement projects ( Thanks Hon) but I do look in the morning with my coffee and then at night.

Rockwell SCADA. Control and monitor the RNG plant.
While I was still working I used to get to work early, before everyone else actually, and the 1st thing that I would typically do was check out the forum. That was many years ago. I wthreas not aware of the fact that every thread that I opened resulted in a separate connection.
I worked in IT in a BIG shop. The place had a lot of monitoring but I was not aware that internet access was being captured.
Boy oh boy was my boss MAD when she got the report. That ended my browsing at work. BUt luckily I got off with just a warning to stop.
