Picked this up recently. I have a few bronze steam locos but none have a bronze tender. I have a CLW kit of this loco with brass coined drivers, but the back of the firebox in the cab is left open for the motor in contrast to this one which has an enclosed firebox. I think I like the older version more from Saginaw.
Remarkably this thing runs great albeit drawing 2 amps. The reverse switch circled in orange works well. It truly is a testament to the tech of that era that it still holds up.
i have seen CLW H-10 with plastic center drivers. Nice idea for the time but seems cheap compared to this.
Now I just need to finish the boiler stanchions, etc. Wonder when Saginaw ended?
