So I'm cleaning up a couple Lionel 1666 locos from the auction site, and I've seen various levels of rust, dirt, grease or a combination of them all, but this was definitely a new one for me.

Fortunately, the inhabitants have long since moved out, but it was still a surprise!

OK, not great, not the worst I've seen...

Is that rust hiding up in there?

No. Definitely not rust. Unless it's the stinging kind of rust.
