I have a DCS remote that the thumbwheel is starting to get flaky. I can step speed up gradually to say 10 SMPH and the next thing I know is the engine is slowing down and the remote displays 3 SMPH. Is there any way to repair it? I can't see inside to see how it works. Are there contacts inside that some spray contact cleaner would help?

Fortunately I have a spare thumbwheel assembly that I can swap out, but with the unavailability of these from MTH I'd like to keep my spare as a spare as long as I can.
