I have just installed MTH catenary on my small layout.  The power to the catenary can be turned on and off.  I have not yet installed a Lionel Command Base, but was curious as to whether TMCC would work with the catenary overhead (in the past, I had TMCC locomotives stall in metal tunnels and bridges until I isolated the tunnels and bridges).

Thank you all in advance.

The TMCC engine receives the signal for it's TMCC antenna in the top of the locomotive from above...the signal comes from the ground wire in the house wiring which is in the walls and ceiling. I guess if you run a catenary over the engine, and it's connected to the power rail, the center rail, then it may be a shield to the TMCC signal...but not as much of a shield as a metal tunnel. I think you just have to try it. I think you'll be ok.
