I installed my Cruise Commander board and hooked up my CAB-1L base to the outside rail of my track. I turned the command base on, put the locomotive on the track, turned the track power on then pressed ENG 12 SET to program the ID. I switched the program/run switch and tried to throttle up and...nothing. Any ideas? Also with a Cruise Commander how do you know when the program/run swich is in program or run mode? There's no label on the switch!

The program position of the switch connects the two wires on the switch.  The run position connects one wire to the empty post.

Look at your Cruise Commander manual.  In addition to setting an engine ID#, you must tell the board what kind of locomotive it is (diesel with smoke, diesel with strobe, steam with smoke, etc.).  The sequence is:

Switch to PGM

Power on to track

ENG (ID# 1 to 98)

SET

AUX1

(engine type 1 to 8)

Power off to track

Switch to RUN

When you say you got nothing, do you not have any lights illuminated on the engine? You may just have to go back and double check all the wiring, I have done an install and being anxious to see it run missed something in the wires, silly but it happens.
