I feel your pain.  I have just gone through a re-build of a major portion of the layout, including installing backdrops AFTER the benchwork is in place (HINT:  Bad idea ).  The place was a disaster.  It still has some clutter, but much of that has been removed and the room has been cleaned.

Trust me, once you get it cleaned up, you will feel much more energized about your projects.  I like to use plastic bins as "project boxes".  All the materials, photos, plans, etc. go into a project box so that I won't lose them.  There are also boxes with general materials - trains cars, details, electrical components, etc.

Looks great and I bet you are happy. I have a bunch of projects and keep on buying more. Either I m slow on completing them or too quick on buying them. I have about 10 Lionel 112 gondola (I have the rubber stamps), just waiting for time to strip the deserving ones and do a repaint. They will look great as freight with a 117 caboose on the end. But first have to finish up a #8 loco and two 35 and one 36 coaches (these are in the works. Plus I have a bunch of prewar O and post war that each model is in its own plastic tubs (all marked with the parts inside) and are at various stages of rebuilds. Will complete some and I do not care if all get all done or not, as long as I have fun.

Jagrick, what is this engine, O, Standard? Does not look like a #8 or a 248?
Looks interesting.

Thanks:
Ron
