I have a scene comprised of the Lionel track gang, salvage team, and the Hooker tanker car salvage team. I am looking for a portable floodlight to position in the scene like those you see in nighttime roadwork crews, etc. I've searched among OGR sponsors, and Google. No joy. Any and all suggestions welcome. I'm also considering building my own around the portable generator offered by Modeltech, but I've never done any scratchbuilding before. Thanks

You could try the Life-Like #1628 spotlights. They show up at shows and Ebay somewhat regularly, add a brass tube to raise their height.

Here is one you could try.
Jerry, Mike, thanks for the suggestions. The Viessmann 5143 Portable Floodlights with Trailer (LED) unfortunately is HO scale, but it gives me the perfect model.
Doesn't anyone make a 1:48 scale spotlight model for military modelers?
When I looked at the ad it said HO/OO

Boy, those look similar to the spots on my intermodal crane. I've been thinking LEDs open that up to replacing with working spots. These may fill that bill as well. Thanks. I'll get a pair and see.
Jesse, I looked on the Lemax website but couldn't find them. By the way, are they O scale?
If you want to be handy, you could start with a Berkshire Valley air compressor trailer and build from there.

Ed, Yes, they are O scale in size and very effective. I picked these up at a local Dollar Store a few years back, now wish I would have gotten more. Many hobby and craft stores handle Lemax products, perhaps to find one on line, or however, may be the way to locate them.
Jesse
thanks. I did try to find them on line with no luck, but I'll keep looking. The tip on the Dollar Store I will follow-up on as well. I'm thinking if I can't find anything suitable, I'll hunt for something at York in October...
Ed, Also, as the year progresses, stores will be coming out with their Christmas displays and "villages" merchandise. That is a great time to look for this stuff. Perhaps if you have a "year round" Christmas store nearby, or, as we have in OKC, a "North Pole" store that begins with Christmas related sales next month. They always have a large room with Dept. 56 and Lemax products set up in a great village/town scene with animation.... all for sale on the racks. This is where I pick up a lot of my scenic materials, trees, etc. to use. Perhaps that would be a good location... when the season is right.

Jesse, I'll be on the lookout. As a matter of fact, we're heading to a B&B today for a few nights stay in Oxford, MD. Nearby city of St. Micheals has a year-round Christmas shop. We don't go in anymore as we have more Christmas 'stuff' than Santa Claus, but this time I will.

Holy smokes! I'll let my guys work by candle light But thanks for looking.
Mike, your build is exactly what I had in mind. It looks to me you used a set of Yard lights, but what did you use for the generator? Very cool item.
