Train Related Activities Planned for the 4th?

Well first I have to cover the day shift at work tomorrow but after that the next 3 day's are mine! We may see the Lone Ranger and no doubt running trains at some point. Happy 4th everyone!

It's raining and the false prophets .. er, forcasters are predicting a lot of rain over the weekend here in the mountains.   Too bad as there are a lot of motorcycle riders all bundled up in their rain gear on the roads here.

Will probably spend some time at the clubhouse on the layout.

Hopefully on Sunday evening I can get a few hours and clean the track and get the 3rd loop nailed down. I have a sneaky feeling that the beach will get the nod instead!

Nothing on the 4th most likely but Friday and Saturday I will be rehabing 4 modules I will be using in our VBS workshops on trains Sunday thru Thursday.

I'm going to stain a 4' diameter unfinished table top so I can replace the 36" diameter top I have on the whiskey cask layout in my living room (for tinplate trains, primarily).

 

The 4' diameter will allow me to have two circles:  One in O32 and the other O42--both GarGraves.  I haven't yet decided if I'll use roadbed under the track, but if I do it will be the Woodland Scenic foam roadbed.  No scenery, as such, on this tinplate display, aside from a few tin buildings and signals.  My Christmas tree will go in the middle when that time of year rolls around.

Forgot to mention, we have friends coming over for the 4th and the first thing they want to do is to go to the train room to see the recent changes we have made. They said the boat ride can wait till after they see some trains running.

 

Looks like the weather will cooperate, so hopefully we will have a great day tomorrow.

I'll read some of my book in the cupola of my logging caboose then paddle a wooden canoe around an Adirondack lake that bans motorboats(and happens to be my forum handle). With my Wife. Our 10th Anniversary is on the 5th. Maybe I'll bring a fishing pole. Perfection.
