Does anyone know if anyone took over Charlie's business after his death last February or what became of his inventory?

Google now reports "Trains R Us" is permenantly closed at that location. As to whether anybody purchased the business or set up shop somewhere else, I don't know. I got the impresssion that a family member --perhaps a son? -- helped him with keeping inventory updated on the MTH product locator. Never knew what happened with the store's inventory at the time of Charlie's passing though.
I stopped by the place every now and then -- especially when I caught the Standard Gauge bug a few years ago. Charlie had an interesting business model, in that he seemed to rely on business that came his way largely from the MTH Product Locator. He also seemed close with Mike Wolf. As far as I recall, the store never had an active website where you could view inventory or buy online. I asked him about that once, and he seemed OK with his inventory as displayed by the MTH Product Locator. And while I got the impression he wasn't setting the world on fire in terms of business volume, he was content with the sales that came in from locals and folks browsing the MTH website.

Thanks Dave. I purchased a lot from him and he would call me at least once a month to shoot the bull. He is truly missed.
Indeed, Charlie was known to train people for many years. Don't know about his former business current status, but his wife and son have continued to participate as sellers in the motel ballroom by the door and in rear of the Orange hall.
I live 20 minutes from his old store and only visited once because he never had anything and the place was like a junk yard. Plus he was never very personable.

Thanks HOLD ON. I will look them up during the next show. DAVID1, his inventory came in waves. Some new, some used. It was all about timing with Charlie. He had a lot stacked up in the back rooms. If he had what your looking for, he could find it in a minute.
