When I built my present layout, I wanted to get something presentable done in a hurry so I made some bridges out of cardboard. They have been there now for 10 years and I'm interested in improving them. I've gone to the internet and checked out what's available from MTH,Lionel and Atlas. I have also been looking at York. I have one single track bridge 29 inches long and one triple track bridge 42 inches long. They do not support the track, they are only there for show. Of course, I made life more difficult here by putting them on an angle. So, I'm looking for help here to learn about my options. I'm thinking that I'll probably have to build something, probably from plastic. Any suggestions?

GHD, sorry I can't help you out on your bridges but do you have a diagram of your layout?
Looks like something that may fit in the space I have to build my layout, rectangle shape.
Thanks

Hi. You can check out Bridgeboss.com. We have a wide range of bridges available including truss and trestle types that may meet your needs.

My brother Dave recently posted about kitbashing a staggered Pratt truss bridge from Atlas Kits for the Northwest Trunk Lines. You can read more here.

There are a number of sellers who offer what you want. Scenic express sells curved items and the bridge boss is another. Some will build to your specs if you have the bucks.
Don't forget Silk City!
Heck, your cardboard bridges look fine to me.

Thank you to all who responded. I'm trying to find all my options at this point.
To Yardmaster, no I don't have a documented plan. The layout is three levels and all the track is interconnected using over 70 switches. It is basically 15 by 40 feet.
To Dennis, thank you for the compliment. I do agree that they look decent for my purposes and thus I'm in no hurry to replace them. This may be a rainy day project sometime in the future. I must admit that I do hesitate to spend the money for some of these bridges that cost almost the price of the trains we run across them. That's one reason I'm thinking of building them myself.
Finally, this was my first attempt to post pictures. Hopefully I'll do better the next time.

I built several from sheet metal, used AutoCad to draw and a CNC plasma to burn them out then welded up in my garage. If you want to do something your self using the bases you already have Plastruct has some pretty neat stuff you glue together yourself. www.plastruct.com
Thanks again. I'm favoring a steel type structure but made from plastic at this point. I'm not into working with metal and I'd like more detail than I'd get from wood, if I can find it in plastic. The tip from drodder looks like a good one. I believe my local hobby shop carries some of their products. I'll be checking it out. Thanks again.
