In DCS I have Cab Chatter set to Auto from the remote.  It will play the Cab Chatter after the engine has been sitting for about 30 seconds.

Is there a way to trigger the Cab Chatter from the DCS remote, so that I can play them when I want, and step through the sequence of them on my own?

It seems this is possible from watching Youtube videos of locomotive reviews, but I can't find a reference to doing this in the DCS Companion or from a softy option on the remote itself.

Thanks, Rick

Rick,

Yes, there is.

You need to activate the engine's soft keys that start with an "S". For example, soft key "SI1" is sound, idle, number 1.

To see all available soft keys for an engine, press the soft key under the right arrow repeatedly until soft key "MORE" appears. Press soft key "MORE" to display the engine's entire soft key list.

This and a whole lot more is all in MTH’s “The DCS O Gauge Companion 2nd Edition", available for purchase as an eBook or a printed book at MTH's web store!

Rick,

No, the Sound Menu typically sets sound levels, and turns sound features on and off. It's the soft keys that actually play sounds. The average PS2 or PS3 engine has anywhere from 6-12 different sound clips that can be played via soft keys. You need to use the thumbwheel to scroll up and down the list to see them all.

An interesting one is STW, for sound, train wreck. Just about every engine has that one.
