I have two scale Williams GG1s, one Lionel semi-scale GG1 and one MTH semi-scale GG1 where the horn and bell sounds are accurate  to a GG1.  I know, because I've worked on many of them, as a Conductor, on the PC, Conrail, Amtrak and NJ Central trains out of New York's Penn Station.

I also have one scale GG1 and one scale Conrail GG1 with what I believe is a True Blast II sound card.  I think they sound horrible.

I'm guessing my Williams GG1s have True Blast Plus and the MTH GG1 has Proto Sounds 3.

I'm looking for  semi-scale Brunswick Green Five Striped GG1 with a natural sounding horn, bell and loco sound (conventional).

I also cannot locate a True Blast Plus sound card and speaker for my Williams scale GG1s that sound horrible.  I looked over at Train World and did not see GG1 sounding boards.

Any direction would be greatly appreciated, as my buying spree is coming to an end.

Hey!  I found a used MTH Pennsy GG1 30-5105, but cannot determine what kind of sound it has.

You must have the later TB2.  In an effort to cheapen the tru blast product, the Chinese played an early TB2 into a tape player and used those sounds with a less effective circuit because they did not have original sound files.

I did a TB2 for GG1's for the late Charlie Phillips with correct sound files.  I'll have a look for it.

I'm not certain, but pretty sure the True Blast PLUS has to sound better than the True Blast 2

The GG1 has a very distinct sound unlike most diesel engines.

Tru blast plus was developed by Soundtrax, makers of mobile DCC sound decoders like the Tsunami. Tru blast 2 from TAS was a single polyphonic sound chip with a grade crossing horn and cast iron bell. So yes, the plus will sound better.

And yes GG1 sounds are unique. Some of the sound boards for GG1s I've heard rely on a lot of compressor noise to compensate for the soft whine of electric motors .

Lou - I've asked this before and time is quickly running out on an auction.  Do you know what sound board is in an MTH GG1 30-5105?
