Not the current one but the 2004 Odyssey version. I like smaller engines and this one is such a fine runner I decided to add a few details. This one arrived with a missing lift bar and one support broken off. A new lift bar with new supports and chain was fabricated.  Also twin hoses for the pilot which most NYC steam sported in later years.

In addition a bell rope was added as well as cab curtains and rear deck. The drawbar was shortened 1/8" as well. As this will get used in tighter spaces I opted not to make it too short.

Here is a the pilot with details before installation.

Still in the works a four lobe chuff cam and real coal load. Stay tuned.

File this under, there is more than one way to skin a chuff rate. Made easier because this engine has a retaining plate for all of the driver bearings. Drop the plate, remove the crank pins, remove the driver set.

The two lobe cam bearing for the chuff switch was replaced with a 4 lobe cam. Bob's your uncle with 4 chuffs and 4 puffs. no other mods needed. Cost zero dollars using scrap aluminum but about 4 hours time.

No drawing for the cam. I just measured the large and small diameters of the 2 lobe cam and milled the depressions to match the small diameter, then cut the corners to match the large diameter. I started out with a piece of 1/2" square stock aluminum in my mill vice and milled the depressions with a ball end mill. Then used a four jaw chuck and live center in my lathe to round the corners. The axle diameter is 4 MM. A #22 drill (.157") is a sliding fit on the axle but tight fit on the knurling.

As for details the cab deck material and air hoses are Precision Scale brass. Nut, Bolt, washer castings are Kemtron from my HO days. Eyelets are Lionel and Precision scale. Other pieces are just fabricated from wire and sheet brass.

The cab curtains are resin castings made from a mold of MTH curtains. Slowly I have been adding these details to all my older engines.

I modified my flywheel puller to pull the wheels and cam after scribing a witness mark on the axle so I could replace it in the same position.  I can post pics of that tonight.
