Two Lionel Repair Questions I need help on.

There is a power supply board, and a board that controls the random lighting of the hotbox LED's.

There is a parts list for these cars on the  Lionel Website that shows 41 available parts.  But it is not clear which one of them controls the LED's.  The other features on my  car work ok such as sounds and smoke; but no flashing LED to simulate the fire.  Phil

The only board that makes sense for LED control is this one.

The other two PCB boards have well defined functions, and I doubt either control the LED's.

Phil, it's a graphic, it's the 691-RANI-BHB RANDOM LIGHT-HOT BOX  from the list.  The two other boards are the Trainsounds board and the smoke regulator, neither of them would do the trick.

I don't know why you can't see the graphics, they're there.

Thanks John:   As I got on the forum right now, the graphic shows up on your earlier reply.  I do not know why it was not there  when I looked earlier today!!!   I will buy that part and hope it works.  Any thoughts on the Heisler?  Phil

As for the Heisler, I'd start by swapping out the R2LC.  Since the sounds work, but when you try to do a command controlled sound the issue arises, it sounds like the R2LC would be a likely suspect.
