I spent all day trouble shooting an easy problem. To make the story quick, I just put a BCR2 into a G gauge engine last month. That engine would not re-add for the life of me. It fails the easy to do power kill test!! Sounds cut out in the first second.

Seems like something inside has gone south. I will research it. After having the very first engine  I tried (my trusted one) not re-add, I blamed the entire system. I rebooted software, swapped power supplies, etc. I didn't try another engine, thinking there was no way it was the engine's fault.

 Don't leave anything to chance!!

Marty, I have only seen two bad sets of batteries so far. Both are from troubled pasts. For some reason, I decided to go the other route???

Anyways, here's where I'm at today. I checked my wiring and everything looked good. So I ran the engine in conventional mode for a few minutes. When I killed the power, it went thru a better shutdown sequence this morning? I then attempted to add it to the system. It took a minute, I got an out of range message (again), and then it added to the old address #3 that it's been in for years.

I keep getting that "out of range message" or similar when I add, even though I'm right at the TIU? and it's a good thing. In my haste to reconnect the TIU outside, I did not pay attention to the light bulbs connected at the outputs. One of them started melting the TIU case. I'll have to mount them on a stand soon! I just can't catch a break. At least things are working today!!!

Yeap, I remember some things you tell me!

I did try to tether it when the engine would not add. It appears that the BCR was low for whatever reason?

When it did add, it was not tethered, so I can only tell you the rest. I get that message at near the end of the add a lot. I press something and the remote gets joggled back and reports "out of RF range" or whatever that one is. The next thing it says is engine added to address #3. Almost like the remote stumbles a bit?

After that, the remote operates perfectly. It is an old remote that's been thru a lot. When it boots, it gets stuck for a few seconds and then it will let you choose something. I have lived with that and it's only a few seconds of time. The new one seems much faster or smoother?
