I have a C&O 4-8-4 that was PS1 and was upgraded to PS2. I want to change the engine name following the directions in the instructions and every time I hit <D the remote says system error and the name is not changed. Also when I tried feature reset I get out of range yet the engine does react to commands if selected on the remote.
If int was updated to PS2 using a board intended for subways and trolleys, that would explain the inability to change the engine'
s name by using a Custom Name. Those PS2 boards cannot accept a Custom Name.
The Feature Reset issue may be a DCS signal strength problem. Try placing the engine on a short test track connected directly to Fixed #1 Out, with no other channel output connected to the tracks. If it works, try the custom name again.
