Union Pacific wood coach sound car problems

I’m having problems with the operation of this sound car.

Using CAB1:

1) setting the switch to PGM I then push ENG then address 60 then SET. I hear the whistle blow and other sounds start.
2) then I set the switch to RUN but there is no whistle or bell response when I push those buttons. It makes chuffing noise as it moves along with the engine but nothing more with any button pushes. It also does not shut down with up-arrow 5.
3) Whether in PGM or RUN the whistle sounds if the set button is pushed.

You may have just left this step out of your message or you are skipping it during setup.

After ENG, 60, SET you need to turn off the power then move the switch to RUN.

Because the Lionel website is out to lunch, I can’t see the manual but, if this unit requires an AUX key enter that after SET then cut the power and move the switch to RUN.

Other then that, you are doing everything correctly.

I found the manual and you seem to be doing everything correctly.  I no longer have a CAB1, so I can’t try to duplicate your problem.  Do you have any other Legacy items.  If so, are they functioning correctly?  When toy press the SET key do their horns blow.

Sorry I can’t help you more.  Maybe someone else will see this a try to help you.
