Universal Studios has released a video of the new Harry Potter train ride that opens soon at their park. It functions to take park visitors from one part of the park to another in a very unusual way. Their video is very interesting and the ride seems unlike any other theme park train ride I've seen. Here is the You Tube  link.

I can't tell if it is a practical steam engine or not. It is a shame Lionel Seems to have dropped the Harry Potter train from their line as i'm sure they would sell a few to park-goers here after riding the "real thing". I do like the attention to detail and the fact that the ride there and the ride back are different. Variety in new theme park rides due to digital technology seems to make return visits more enticing if the experience is different.

What do you guys think?

We've been talking about this on the Disney Railroads forum for a while.

(we talk all theme park rr's)

Those that are in the know tell it's a elevator running horizontally. The loco is a shell....and yes the wheels do not move or they do not in early testing anyway. The train goes a very short distance.....but the windows a video screens that make it seem like a greater distance.

I'd ride if I was there.....but I doubt I'll ever go to the park......do not really like Harry other than the train.
